| Keep your guitar away from
damp and humid conditions and avoid
keeping it in extremes of temperatures.
Dont leave your guitar in a cold
car boot overnight or in the car when
its hot and sunny. |
If youre going to
leave your guitar for a long period of
time, slacken the strings slightly to
avoid unnecessary tension on the bridge.
When you change the strings, remove and
replace them one at a time. |
| Dont leave your guitar
in direct sunlight. Invisible light rays
can damage the glues that hold it
together |
Keep the fingerboard clean
behind frets. Perspiration and grime can
build up and affect the sound you are
able to make. |
| Add a drop of oil to your
machine heads every few months (unless
theyre of the closed type) |
Try and keep your hands as
dry as possible when you are playing and
wipe a cloth over the strings when
youve finished |
| If you buy a guitar stand
you will be able to put your guitar
securely beside you and not have it
propped up against a wall or chair.
(Guitars dont need any excuses to
fall over and damage themselves!) |
If the bottom three guitar
strings are sounding dull and you
cant afford a new set, take each
one off in turn and give it a good wash
and scrub. This will remove debris from
between the windings and it may sound
better. |
